The word androgyny consists of Andro- is a Latin prefix referring to maleness or men, while -gyn is a root that can be used as either a suffix or prefix meaning woman.

Androgyny is not a gender identity nor is it a sexual identity- it is a presentation of gender this means that people of any gender and sexual orientation can be androgynous.
