Our feelings are what manifests in our body as a result of emotions that are often unconscious and help us to identify what is happening internally within us. It communicates our emotional experience with respect to the world around us.

When it comes to feelings, they are often mistaken for emotions but emotions and feelings are fundamentally different concepts.

Feelings involve a conscious experience where emotions are unconscious experiences of our perceptions and experience of  ourselves and the world around us.

Feelings are a result of the cognitive and behavioural responses to emotional experiences that often require effort to develop an awareness of.  SO our feelings play the role of that which helps us develop a conscious experience of what is happening to us internally.

The problem that involves our feelings is that we are often times socialised in environment that do not encourage positive expression of emotions. We are taught that expressing our feelings and working with them is a sign of vulnerability and weakness.

So we are often taught to suppress them and this leads us to develop faulty and dysfunctional patterns of dealing with our emotions and the feelings we feel as a result of our emotions.
